Chapter Meetings

Our primary meetings are held the third Saturday of each month from September through May, unless otherwise determined by the regent and the executive board. These would be for special joint meeting with other chapters, visits to historic landmarks, or the one meeting per the schedule held within the Pentagon during the lunch time hour. In addition, we hold monthly social, service, and educational programs.

Pentagon Chapter meetings cover a wide variety of topics of interest to the membership. Programs include Women's Suffrage and the 19th Amendment; The Heritage of Thanksgiving; History of the White House Ornament; the Southern Campaign During the American Revolution; the Continental Navy; Our DAR Founders; Harriett Tubman: African American, Abolitionist, Humanitarian, and Union Spy; Chief Wilma Mankiller of the Cherokee Nation; and Our Grandmothers' Gardens.

Chapter outings have included tours of Washington, D.C. locations, including NSDAR Headquarters, the National Archives, the National Museum of American History, and the Congressional Cemetery. Other outings have included a candlelight tour of Mount Vernon, visit to the Freedom House in Alexandria, and tours of the Tudor House and Garden, Woodlawn Plantation, Octagon House, and Arlington National Cemetery. We participate annually in the George Washington Birthday Parade in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.
